Photo clearly shows the tapered legs. Even though they are narrow at the base the oak is still quite durable!Clearly you can see the two pieces of burr elm. They are joined together as a lap joint and you can also see the opening quite clearly, but this is part of its charm.This kitchen table is made from two pieces of solid one inch thick Loup dDetail shot of the edge and one oak dowel can be seen in the leg that is pinning the joint into the rail.Louis XV marquetry commode with bronze ormolu and royal rouge marble topThe most exquisite Louis XV marquetry commode with bronze ormolu and royal rouge marble top (not shown) epoque 18th century circa 1750. This is a figure originating in the "Massive Central" of France and is carved from solid stone. 54cm High. circa early 16th century. Status : SOLDIt is carved from solid stone called calcaire. To cover the white stone at one time it has been waxed but there are traces of red and blue paint in the small crevices which reveal it would have originally been polycromed. circa early 16th century. The walnut colour is truly richer after a fresh wax. This wonderful piece is very practical and the drawers glide open just by pulling one bronze handle. The escutions have the face of the sun king Louis XIV. This piece comes with a certifcate of Authenticity from a proper authority.Georgeous serpentine tilt top table, Napoleon III in French Oak. SOLDPhoto 2Photo 2: and we have begun the polishing...SOLDI purchased a piece of old marble at Emmaus in France and it was perfect in depth. I simply has to trim the edges down 10mm but it was good as the walnut was slightly undulating and I could cut it to exactly fit.I proceeded to drill the holes for the dowells in the colums and back board.The old marble has a very individual grain.A beautiful piece of quite delicate marble as this cut is thin. It is almost impossible to find this grain of marble today! Luckily Emmaus in France takes everything and if you are vigilent you can find something like this.
