The History of John Meyer Snr.
When his village was flooded during WWII he and his family, parents, 9 sisters and a younger brother, were evacuated to
Dordrecht where they lived with his uncle, whom was a cabinet maker. He trained my father up in the skills of wood working to eventually take over his business but Dad had other ideas.
If you knew John Meyer senior you are most welcome to view a short film by clicking on the following link. The first is the homily said by Father John Flader, a life long friend and the second was read by John Meyer Jnr. at John Meyer senior’s funeral that was on the 28th September 2011.
In 1960 he married Jean Baynie, whom was the daughter of Tonnous & Kharma Baynie, immigrants from Bane in Lebanon. Just as soon as mum came out of the convent he was there to ask for her hand! He borrowed money, with his life insurance policy as collateral, and bought a house in Frenchs Forest, for only 5,000 pounds!
